Retreat Cove House
Completed 2006 – 3568 square feet
North detail of residence
We worked with architect Robert Lemon to create this house gracefully nestled into a bank at the back but seemingly floating above the grassy meadow when viewed from the front.
We achieved this effect with a full foundation at the back while pads and columns support the front.
We will work with you or your designer to take advantage of your site’s views, natural light, cooling breezes, and shade areas.
This project allowed us to use a number of different building practices: standard framing with engineered trusses as well as gluelam and local sawn timber beams. We built the timber truss in the living room area on-site with a combination of sawn timbers and steelwork.
We built all the window frames on-site out of local cedar to achieve a timber frame effect in the screened porch. We continued the same clean lines in the interior with flush baseboards milled on-site as well as custom woodworking.
There is a high screen porch just off the kitchen leading out onto another deck.
1×6 cedar channel siding installed horizontally with no trim
large 5-piece bathroom with floor to ceiling windows
custom woodwork to accommodate light fixtures
post and beam woodwork to highlight different areas
site built wood door mounted on sliding garage door
track to close off lower bedroom wing
